You can still do some home tests that will let you know if you have a bad breath, and you don't

• Use some cotton gauze to wipe your tongue (the top), then smell it (the best way probably). And if you see a bit of yellow on it, you probably have a high sulfide production.

 

• Lick your own hand, on its back. Wait for 10 seconds, let it dry and smell it. If you detect an odor after you smell it, then you got a breath disorder. When you lick the hand, the sulfur salts are transferred on it, so you can feel the smell.

 

• Run some dental floss through the teeth from the back (where it's possible to have food caught). After that, smell the floss you just used, and you might get an idea if you have bad breath.

 

• Get the tongue out while you're watching a mirror. Try to see the back of the tongue and see if it's white. That's usually a clue of bad breath. You can try seeing how others behave around you and that might also give you an idea about your breath.

 

• Ask someone if you have a bad breath. Ideally, they should do it a few times in a single day, because it changes during the day.

 

• If you find that foods give you a bad breath, it means that they have sulfur compounds. You will probably get a bad breath when you eat dairy, alcohol, sweets , or when you use a mouthwash that has alcohol in it.

When To Replace Running Shoes  

Most people wear running shoes, and all athletic shoes, much too long. This article discusses what to look for and the parameters to when shoes should be replaced.

Although I've mentioned running shoes specifically in the title, I'm writing this with all athletic shoe types in mind: tennis shoes, walking shoes, sneakers, aerobics shoes, basketball shoes, etc. The principle is generally the same. For brevity, lets just refer to them for the most part as running shoes.

We all understand that running shoes have a limited
ifespan. Most people, however, continue to wear them well after their useful life has ended. In my office, I most commonly will have people tell me that their shoes are several years old BUT (insert excuse here...). Some of my favorites, it fits my feet perfectly (meaning it's broken down), the heel is worn out just how I like it (meaning it has a hole inside the shoe), new shoes just bother me (meaning that I've worn these for so long, the support is too different at this point), and my favorite: They still look new.

Yes, they still look new. When all you do is run on the treadmill, use the elliptical, and some stationary bike, and your shoes never see the light of day, of course they look new. What's problematic is the part you don't see.

The support and function of a running shoe has little or nothing to do with the overall appearance of the upper part of the shoe or even the sole. It's the midsole, the portion of the sole that is largely invisible from the outside, that has the most function and limits the useful lifetime of a shoe. With every stride, the midsole compresses and, with time, loses the majority of its support. I estimate the useful lifetime of a running shoe for runners to be approximately 350 miles. This amount may be slightly shorter for heavier runners and slightly longer for lighter ones. For those who really don't run regularly, or partcipate in other sports and activities that can't me measured by mileage, your shoes should be replaced every 4-6 months, depending on the frequency and level of the activity.

So start keeping track of the life of your shoes. Dedicate a pair of shoes (or more) exclusively for exercise to get the most out of its useful life. You can record your mileage in your running journal, or even in pen on the side of the shoe. To help you remember how old a shoe is, write the date on the tongue or the outsole.

Whenever you are involved in serious exercise , minor injuries are inevitable. You must do everything in your power to minimize them. Just wearing the proper shoes is one simple way to help you along.

Cara: I can finally do pull ups, which I always wanted to do. I'm definitely stronger, leaner, faster, and finally have the athletic body that I've always wanted. Also, my clothes have gotten looser and smaller. I can actually see visible abs now which have always eluded me.

Cara: The strength that I've gained has improved my biking and running, which is the most exciting. I can climb hills on my bike that I had to walk before, and I have knocked minutes off my 5k runs. What is Excessive Sweating or Hyperhidrosis?  

Excessive sweating is a problem that is quite common, especially in the case of soles, armpits or palms.

It can be of different degrees of severity, and it will not affect you all the time. Some things will trigger the problem, such as spicy foods, emotion, heat and anxiety. If you're anxious about sweating, this can trigger it as well. In most cases though, you will have no idea what triggers it. It's usually a condition that takes a lot of time to improve.

 There is no need to take tests if you have focal sweating. If you use an antiperspirant and it doesn't do its job, you can talk with the doctor to give you a treatment.

 
Excessive sweating that is generalized

 
Generalized sweat means that your entire body is affected, not just a few areas. It's not as common as the focal one is. In most cases generalized sweating is caused by a medical problem. There are quite a few conditions that can cause sweating: heart problems, drug side effects, anxiety disorders, spinal cord nerve damage, infections, hormone problems, some cancers, and so on. If you suffer from generalized excessive sweating, you should talk to a doctor, to see what's the problem that is causing it.

Even though it's not a serious problem, excessive sweating can be embarrassing and distressing. Teeth Grinding in Kids – Causes, Effects and Treatment  

When kids grind their teeth it is called bruxism. Bruxism usually happens during the night, when kids clench the lower and the upper teeth, while rubbing them. Usually kids do this when they're sleeping so they don't know they're doing it.

Why do some kids have bruxism?

 

The causes of bruxism aren't well known for now. Some kids will do the teeth grinding, others will not. A lot of people think that bruxism happens because in some cases the teeth of the kids don't fi
well together. That happens sometimes because the jaws and teeth don't grow at the same time, but in phases. This provokes sensations that are unpleasant, so kids will do the teeth grinding, which makes them feel better. Sooner or later this will become a habit for the kid. Teeth grinding also appears when both adults and kids have some kind of pain at their teeth or ear, or when they are anxious. A lot of children that are hyperactive also get bruxism.

 

Recently, studies suggest that another reason why kids get bruxism is sleep disturbances. These sleep disturbances can also provoke drooling, bet wetting or sleep talking. Because REM patterns (rapid eye movement) are interrupted while you sleep if you're dehydrated, this can signal a number of other issues, but your dentist can give you more advice about that.

 

What effects does bruxism have?

 

Usually, there are no problems for kids if they grind their teeth. It's going to be fine even if their milk teeth appear, because there isn't any damage or pain. If it happens a lot though, or if the kid loses their milk teeth, you should ask a doctor if everything is alright. In some cases, it's possible for teeth infections to show up, so check with a doctor. Usually, kids will get over this problem in time, so don't worry about it too much.

 

How can we help?

 

In most cases, bruxism will disappear on its own, but you probably should try to get him to stop grinding teeth anyway. You should ask a dentist for some tips, and he can check and see if there are any issues with his teeth, like a bad alignment.

 

Usually, the dentist will recommend a mouth guard for your kid. If the kid wears it while he sleeps, the teeth grinding wil be avoided. It is used often as a treatment and it usually works. You shouldn't avoid other treatments just because this one is good. In plenty of cases kids don't feel good wearing the mouth guard. Another good treatment was hypnosis, which works well on people, no matter how old they are.

 

If the cause of the teeth grinding is caused by anxiety or stress, you need to find out what causes these feelings. You can try relaxing the kid before sleeping, either with jaw massages or warm baths. These methods will help the kid sleep better, uninterrupted and relaxed.

 

What you need to take from this is that you shouldn't be worried about teeth grinding in kids. It happens a lot, and it's more of a problem if the kid already has his adult teeth. In that case, you should take him to a dentist , to see what's causing it.

Singapore Personal Trainer Gives You 6 Muscle Building Tips  

Many of my personal training clients here in Singapore ask me what they need to do to build muscle. Here are 6 tips that they use to get great results.

When helping my personal training clients here in Singapore, I often am asked to help them gain mass. Here are some of the strategies we have used to help them grow muscles as fast as possible.

Tip 1: You need to eat big bunches of nutritious, whole foods every 2-3 hours. There is no magic supplement or magic pill, powder or juice. Despite what supplement manufactures w
nt you to think. You need food. Stuff like Tuna sandwiches, beef steaks, chicken, pasta, rice with beans, natural peanut butter and other nuts.

These methods are good for the person who is naturally thin and wishes to gain mass. Take a wide range, but even more importantly, make sure that you eat often and with consistency. Most people simply don't eat enough good food to get bigger muscles.

Tip 2: Make sure that you track your workout progress by keeping records. You always want to progress. Progress can come in many forms. If its a few extra pounds on the bar that is good, if its a few more reps each training session, that is good too. If its 10 seconds less per set, that is good too!

Tip 3: You need to push yourself hard but not for long. So make sure that your training time is low but your effort and output is high! Your time in the gym should be an hour or less. If you are in the gym for more than an hour, you are making more friends, not more progress. The amount of weight that you should use must be challenging and when this is the case, you should be out of energy by the one hour mark. If the weights you are using are tiny and your training session is long, you are becoming good at endurance, not at building muscle.

Tip 4: Choose exercises that use your entire body. As long as you have decent movements and have no previous injuries, these must include squats, dead-lifts, presses, rows, chinups, and perhaps some Olympic lifts.

These force your body to have an overall growth stimulus. Bicep curls and tricep kickbacks are fine for those guys who are ALREADY big. However these are not the way that you are going to help yourself get bigger.

Tip 5: Train your whole body and that means legs guys! Too many guys just train their upper bodies only i.e. arms, shoulders, etc... neglecting their legs and back muscles. this is unhealthy for your joints, and looks ridiculous.

Tip 6: You do need to change and mix up your rep range and the number of sets that you perform. Sometimes use five reps for five sets, sometimes use eight reps for three sets and sometimes three reps for eight sets. Keep the reps under 12 and lower the sets as your increase the reps per set. The lower the reps, the higher the res periods (2-3 mins) and the higher reps sets need shorter rest (1-1.5 mins. You can also vary tempos i.e. lift or lower the weight faster or slower because this is a kind of variation as well.

That's it! Go out, train hard , eat smart and build muscle.

Here are a couple of direct hits between the eyes of those institutions. The real search for a cancer cure has been over for years. Anyone who asks for money to help find the cure for cancer is a fool, a charlatan or a liar. Modern medicine long ago cured cancer but told no one what they did. You heard me right, modern medicine found the cure for all cancers years ago. And any doctor who says that statement is wrong is either a total fool who should not hold a doctorate degree or a complete liar.

Read this next paragraph and you will see why I would make so many bold statements about one of the biggest most respected institutions in the world. This next paragraph says it all and cannot be denied, it is the absolute smoking gun. 

Dr. Otto Warburg (doctorate degrees in both chemistry and medicine) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1931 for the discovery that, unlike healthy cells in the human body, cancer cells do not "breathe" oxygen (and except for Adolf Hitler would have been awarded a second Nobel Prize for more work in the same area of research). Cancer cells are anaerobic. In other words, they function with no oxygen present. In fact, cancer cells cannot survive in the presence of high levels of oxygen.

Dr. Warburg, in his Nobel Prize winning study, illustrated the environment of the cancer cell. A normal healthy cell undergoes an adverse change when it can no longer receive oxygen to convert glucose into energy. In the absence of oxygen, the cell reverts to a primal nutritional program to nourish itself by converting glucose through the process of fermentation. The lactic acid produced by fermentation lowers the cell pH (acid/alkaline balance) and destroys the ability of DNA and RNA to control cell division. The cancer cells then begin to multiply. The lactic acid simultaneously causes severe local pain as it destroys cell enzymes. Cancer appears as a rapidly growing external cell covering, with a core of dead cells. 

Simply put, Dr. Warburg won the Nobel Prize for showing that cancer thrives in an anaerobic (without oxygen), or acidic condition. In other words, the main cause for cancer is acidity of the human body caused by the individual eating too many acid foods. This acid environment restricts the oxygen to cells and leads to cancer.

This discovery of Dr. Warburg's leads us directly to the cure for cancer. The cure for cancer is to undo this acidic environment by removing the source of the problem. Remove the acid environment (too many acid foods and acidic toxic waste) that the cancer thrives in. This new environment with its balance between acid and alkali brings in oxygen destroying the cancer cells.

Sounds too simple, you might say. That's what I said as I fought prostate cancer. I had some doubts, but it worked. The cleaner I got my body through detoxing, cleansing and lifestyle changes, the faster my acid and alkali balanced. My symptoms were gone in 3 months and I got my health back. A year later I was cancer free. 

I had doubts like you, because like you I was fed large doses of misleading information from people and institutions I entrusted with my health. Many doctors and scientists in modern medicine are totally sincere in their belief that it works. While there are others who have another agenda and it has nothing to do with helping me or anyone else by curing cancer. They do not want a cure because cures mean low profits. They have lead the fight to cure cancer with your money for decades and decades. But the cure will never be found by poisoning, cutting or burning with radiation and laser beams. That is the direction where the money driven industry wants research to go but there is no cure in that direction.

You might also be suspicious because this discovery was made in 1931. Well the guidelines were just as tough then to get past the Nobel committee as they are now. The experiments that lead Dr. Warburg to his discovery were tested and retested by other scientists who came up with the same conclusions. Those same conclusions still stand today ready to be tested if someone wants to disprove his findings but no one comes forward because his findings are the truth.

Many experts in the health field see this Nobel Prize work of Dr. Warburg's as the greatest medical discovery of all time. First, by curing cancer it will save millions upon millions of lives across the world. But, that is only the beginning because if you adjust your diet this way you also cure all the autoimmune diseases of which there are over 60 at this point. You can also add in total immunity to all germs and viruses because they, like cancer, cannot live in an environment where there is plenty of oxygen and a strong immune system. 

I have even seen some deride and belittle Dr. Warburg for living the lifestyle that he found would keep a person cancer free. These are the same small minds that would keep you on their path of disease and treatment for the rest of your life. When Dr. Warburg came up against small minds like these he was known to quote an aphorism he attributed to physicist Max Planck "that science doesn't progress because scientists change their minds, but rather because scientists attached to erroneous views die, and are replaced with a new generation that is familiar with the truth". Dr. Warburg finished one of his most famous speeches with the following statement:"... nobody today can say that one does not know what cancer and its prime cause is. On the contrary, there is no disease whose prime cause is better known, so that today ignorance is no longer an excuse that one cannot do more about prevention."

How to Balance Your Ph to Kill Cancer and Stay Healthy

Why isn't our ph balanced by what we eat, what is wrong with the American diet? In America, as in most countries, we eat typically for entertainment not for nutrition. We do not eat the food that our body is designed to thrive on. We eat like someone who buys a car, puts regular unleaded gas in the tank when the owner's manual says premium only. This is a guarantee that over time you will get ill and find yourself on prescription medication. By the time you are middle-aged you will have a chronic debilitating disease and be on the slippery slope to a hospital, and then a rest home.

There is one very essential ingredient missing from the American diet that can balance our ph. We do not eat enough raw produce which is a basic fundamental law of human nutrition. Produce is where we get the alkaline that neutralizes the acid foods that we eat. Acid foods are meat, dairy, beans and grains and their products such as bread. These acid foods must be neutralized by the alkaline foods. The failure to do so leads to disease. Well we do not do that in America and you can see the disastrous results of breaking this fundamental law everywhere. America is sick because we have gotten too far away from the human body's basic nutritional root, raw produce, and it is killing us. 

As humans evolved, we adapted to a certain style of eating because of environmental pressures. For thousands upon thousands of years our main pressure was finding enough food to keep ourselves and our family mates alive. If you visualize yourself in their position, the grocery store was the environment they lived in. To survive you must know every source of food available, every eatable plant, fruit, seed, and animal to keep yourself and family fed. We learned to take advantage of nature by being opportunists to increase our chances to find the nutrition we needed. We studied nature via the great teacher, survival. 

If you put yourself in their position, where hunting did not evolve for thousands of years in the future, the pressure of hunger drives you to gather those things that cannot get away from you. Plants are everywhere and it does not take long to figure out which are edible and which are not. One clue is to watch other animals eat and you soon discover that there is a storehouse of food right in front of you.

There was no specific amount of this meat and that seed, vegetable or fruit that we turned to. We gathered what we could, but I think it's easy to say that we always turned to those green plants growing and available in so many places. If we could find nothing else, we could always find something green to fill at least some of that empty place in our gut. 

You might be saying right now that this does not sound very nutritious. Well guess what, nutritional science has proven that the most densely nutritious food on the planet is not meat or dairy. The most densely nutritious food on planet earth are the green foods. 

Our digestion evolved around this style of eating, lots of greens, grains, seeds and raw things with meat when the opportunity arose. So we are what is called an omnivore by some scientists, but we are a specialized type of omnivore. We eat meat, but that is not a strong side for us. Even our stomach acid matches an herbivore, 4 to 5 ph (true omnivores and carnivores have a ph of 1, very acidic). A bear is an omnivore, but unlike us has the built-in weapons to kill other animals and eat them. Here are other omnivores: possums, pigs, chimpanzees, rats, chickens, crows, piranhas and turtles.

If you read carefully what I just said, you will notice that we are an animal who is not a true meat eater. We can, but our body is built to only tolerate a small amount daily. If we were an omnivore who eats more meat than other foods we would have those weapons to kill animals and stomach acid to digest them, and we would sweat through our tongue not our skin. We would also eat them raw, skin, hair, bones, guts and all, like all other omnivores. Let me know if you ever see a bear bring down a deer, gut it, skin it and cook it over a fire. Eating that way would make any omnivore sick in a short amount of time.

If you are like most Americans you do not eat much raw, alkali foods, in one day. Let's just say that for breakfast today you had 2 eggs, 3 pieces of bacon, 2 slices of toast, with coffee. You could call this a very typical breakfast for many Americans. At lunch you stopped for a hamburger, fries and a coke. For supper that night at home, you had 2 pork chops, cooked green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy and a salad with dressing plus a slice of apple pie for desert. 

Now, let's add up this days food to discover why it is so poor and will make you fat and sick. Out of all of that food the raw, alkali containing food was the smallest amount. None at breakfast, some at lunch, the onion, tomato and lettuce in the burger qualified. The salad with dinner was raw and qualified but we cannot count green beans and mashed potatoes because they were cooked, and so were the apples in the pie. Cooking food destroys almost all nutritional value. So, out of all of that food, there was only a small amount with any food value. The rest of the food that day was cooked acidic food which is pretty much worthless. Here is how worthless. If you have ever owned a composter they will tell you on the directions never put cooked food in the composter it is worthless.

So if you want to get your ph balanced and you want to get the most from nutrition and avoid disease, move to lots of live produce with each meal. My suggestion is to eat nothing but fruit at breakfast like a fruit smoothie. At lunch and dinner what I do is measure at least one pound of raw vegetables as a salad to go with each meal like lettuce, cucumber, broccoli, squash, tomato, spinach, avocado etc. You may think this is a lot of produce, that you could never eat that much. You can easily eat that much and more. My friend Jackie, who is 52 13, ate a pound for lunch and a pound and a half for supper every day and lost 40 pounds of excess weight over a 3 month period. She told me she will never go back to her old style of eating that she feels and looks to good. Eat meat if you like; do not eat any refined foods, of course, such as sugar, white rice, white bread etc.

Adding lots of produce to your lifestyle this way will bring positive changes in your health. One thing I noticed when I ate this way is my stomach always feels very comfortable. Even if I overeat it feels good. 

To assist you in balancing your ph bring in a high quality super green food. They have the produce in a concentrated alkali form. Add them to your foods such as entrees, salads and drinks to enhance the nutrition and increase digestion and assimilation of all your food. Also take them with you when you are eating out or traveling. They can also replace your multi-vitamin because they are loaded with real food vitamins your body can absorb naturally.

Almost everyone is taking vitamin supplements or some kind of fortified drink or another. Most Vitamins on the market are a sham they do not come from food and so cannot be assimilated by humans. The law of nature that we cannot break is "that if it has not come to us through a living plant we cannot get any nutrition from it". No matter what the manufacturer says you can only assimilate food grown or whole food vitamins. These whole food vitamins can also help you balance your body's ph.

How Can I Check My Ph to See If the Changes I Made Are Working? 

The most accurate method I have found for checking your ph is First AM, Last PM urine method. Buy yourself some ph litmus testing strips that you can find in almost any drug or health food store. The litmus paper strips change color when they are dipped in liquid. Compare the color the paper turns to the test color chart that comes with the test kit. The technique for finding your ph is very simple, when you first get up in the morning test you urine the first time you urinate. The last time you urinate before you go to bed test your urine then. Do this for a full seven days keeping a list of the numbers you found. At the end of seven days total up the numbers and divide by 7 to get your average ph for the seven days.

How would you like to be treated in the hospital of a country that was ranked number 24 by the World Health Organization (WHO). Well guess what, you are living in that country, as the USA is ranked number 24 by the W.H.O. Isn't that interesting that for years and years we were always number 1 and lead the word when it came to medicine. I'll give you another surprise. As we all know heart disease is the number one killer of Americans , and everyone also knows that cancer is the number two killer of Americans. Guess what is the number three killer of us Americans my friends? It is the American Medical System itself. That is the number three killer of the American people. 

In closing I would like to say that one of the most important things I was told by the Naturopathic Doctor who started me on this path was "You must take charge of your own health you cannot leave it up to someone else."
